Our current state of social consciousness has finally allowed all women an expanded freedom of choice. Each generation becomes more enlightened and inclusive. Also, discuss how you will handle the situation if your families are opposed to the relationship, and talk about the elephant in the room.
As an older woman, you've had the added years of self-reflection to have learned your truth and live authentically. Women's choices have been limited for far too many centuries. You probably have more energy than other women your age and are more of a free-spirited, independent woman. When you began the relationship, you were already established and matured. Think of how you would feel if the shoe were on the other foot.
Your family members may have issues in the beginning, but over time they too will see that the two of you make each other happy and will ultimately accept the relationship. From my years of research, this type of partnership is where the real magic happens. It takes a great deal of the pressure off of them and the relationship. If you get into a long-term relationship with an older man, you will need to keep an open line of communication. Let him be himself, and allow yourself to be the woman you've always wanted to be.
Some men live a George Clooney type of life, and plan to die a bachelor. With a larger age gap comes completely different life experiences. You are, in reality, taking authentic control. Age doesn't equal sexual experience. When your bullshit-ometer goes off, listen to it and call him on it.
